Eyewitness Report of UFO Sighting

Environment Factors

Time: 30 June 2006, approximate 11:10 AM to 11:13 AM
Observing point: Near highest point at Waiatarua, Auckland, New Zealand, about 400 meters elevation. The horizon line of sea can be seen from this point.
Observers: Two people, a female and a male
Weather: Clear day with sun in visible
Visibility: The farthest point can be seen from the observing point is outline (broken) of Coromandel Peninsula

Observation

A flying solid flat object is observed with direction from West to East. Its color is black or another dark color without any metallic reflection. The shape of the object is triangle, though it is hard to tell the three angles’ degrees due to the deterioration caused by the perspective. It is also hard to tell the thickness of the object due to the distance. The first thought of observers is that it is a big black hang-glide. However, after carefully observed the size and flying track of the object in a few second, this thought has been discarded. The flying track of the object is a very straight line that is very much like commercial airline. No sound has been noticed even after much attention has been paid to listen. There is no rotation at all in anyway. In the general feeling, the object’s size is very much similar to those of small airplanes. But the speed of it is a bit faster. The duration of the observation is about 3 minutes. Please note that the object did not disappear suddenly but faded away gradually due to visibility caused by distance. The object has never been above the horizon from the view of observing point. The last point seen was below the horizon, at the direction in between Mt Eden and One Tree Hill. No shadow has been observed on the ground.

Analysis

After observation, it has been calculated that the overall size of the object is about 40 meters. This calculation is based on the altitude of the object which is below the horizon. If assume the flying track is level, then the height of the object is about 300 meters above sea level. It is positive that this object is flying level. After viewing the map (Auckland City, by WISES, 11th Edition, Scale 1:35,000) it is measured that the object is first observed above the residential area in-between of suburbs Kelston, Avondale, New Lynn and Glen Eden. The farthest point can be seen is at St Johns Park direction. The distance from the observation point to the first place is about 8.5 km and to the last point is between 25 km to 35 km. The speed is therefore about 500km per hour.

Conclusion

This is an unidentified flying object for the combination of its altitude, size, shape, color, non-noise and its speed.

Most Possible Explanation

A silent stealth military airplane at low speed and at low altitude flies over Auckland city.

- The female witness has rushed to outside and the male witness (I) remains in inside. During the observing, still talked with a few words. No action immediately took after incident. However, within half hour, I decided to record it for reference purpose.

- Object fades away due to visibility which is caused by the distance.
